Vandersluis Memorial Golf Tournament
Now with the Birchmont complete we can concentrate on our next big event; the Annual Vandersluis Memorial Golf Tournament held Labor Day weekend. This is a fun event and structured similar to The Birchmont. Men's, Women's and Senior Men's flights qualify on Saturday, Sept. 3rd. They play an 18-hole match on Sunday and then two, 9-hole matches on Monday (assuming they win their first match on Monday). Men and Senior Men Championship divisions play three days of stroke play.
We'd like to see more members participate in this event and have lowered the entry fee for members to $50.00. If you're in the flights you don't even have to play the qualifying round, just post your handicap. For more information view vandy.bemidjigolf.com
We are also looking for scoreboard volunteers for all three days. If you are willing to donate a few hours on one or more of these days, please contact Rick or myself.
81st Annual Birchmont
Our 81st Annual Birchmont held July 25-30 was another success. We had numerous positive comments from the 234 contestants about the tournament and the course. This event wouldn't be possible without the numerous members that volunteered their time during the event. Thank you!
I want to extend a special thank you to co-chairs Sylvia Wildgen and Bob Kobilka along with committee member Evonne McKinzie for their work on this event all year.

We now have containers on the range tee with topdressing material like we do on the par 3's. Our goal is to improve the quality of turf on the range tee and frequent topdressing is critical. Please fill in your divots with this material as often as possible. Thanks!
Tuesday Night end of year events: Tournament of Champions, August 30th. Top Ten Shootout, September 20th.
