We are now nearing completion of the of the bunker renovation project. Holes 2,3 and 17 should be sodded in the next couple of days and all that will remain will be some cleanup and repair work.
As you may have noticed, the changes to No.2 and No. 18 have been particularly dramatic. According to Mr. Norby, our project architect, one of the real challenges with the project was to make the greens on holes No.2, 8, 9, 10, 14, and 17 - which had been rebuilt in the 1990s in a very modern style - look more similar to the original elevated greens built in 1919. To do this, we have excavated and positioned the bunkers below the putting surface and incorporated a smaller more-classic shape with flat sand and grass-faces. These new bunkers with the white sand from Ohio will provide a dramatic new look.
One if the primary goals of the Long-range Master Plan was to create a distance look that would create some interest and excitement that would translate into increased membership and green fee revenue for Bemidji Town & Country Club by enhancing our historic character.
