FROM THE GREENS COMMITTEE
Hi again members. Well, it looks like the season is winding down. I just wanted to provide you all with an update regarding greens and grounds issues. We will be planting around 20 new trees this fall. The trees will be Norway (Red Pine), Red maple and Spruce. We will plant them in a strategic manner with an eye on the future loss of existing mature trees.

The resurfacing of the cart paths will have to wait for another budget year. The cost to do this is $1.50 per square foot and our budget does not have enough left in it to accomplish very much of that type of work. We do hope to go ahead with purchasing a computer controlled irrigation system. We of course, need board approval for this. By allowing us to customize the delivery of water to needed locations on the course, we will save water and wear and tear on an already overtaxed irrigation system. This should buy us significant time before a major irrigation system replacement is required. The bids look very favorable at this point.

I really think we need to commend Tom Johanns and his staff. They did a wonderful job this season. We have had fast, true greens and great playing conditions. The course continues to receive positive comments from guests and members.

Our mission this year was to do a number of small or moderate projects that improved playability and appearance of the course. Of course, there is always more to be done. I appreciate all of the members input and suggestions. It always helps to get feedback. If you have any issues to discuss or items to address please contact me at shagenah@paulbunyan.net or let any member of the committee know your concerns.
  Thank You,
  Steve Hagenah
