The Bemidji Town & Country Club
First, I would like to thank all of you for participating in "Course Awareness Week". Tom tells me there are less ball marks to repair and more divots being replaced. Keep up the good work! Also, we need to be aware of proper dress on our beautiful course and encourage all members and guests to wear proper golf attire. Sleeved and collared shirts are considered proper attire.
The dock party was a huge success and again a tip of the hat to Steve Hill for all his efforts and thanks so much for everyone who contributed. Signs are being made and donated by Fred Neff welcoming our members and guests when they use the dock. Hey Fred, thanks so much from all from us.
The Board of Directors is always looking to improve our total facility and we are currently working with Lucachich Architecture to explore upgrading our kitchen, main floor, bathrooms, and banquet room. With a project of this size it has been decided to call a general membership meeting in August. This meeting will be a sharing of ideas from the Board and listening to the ideas from our stockholders. More will follow soon as we progress along these lines.
Along a personal line, I had nerve damaged in my left leg on June 2nd and have not been able to golf since then. I hope to recover in time to play again this summer.
On June 11th, we had our kick-off for the new dock. The weather cooperated and close to 100 donors showed up to celebrate. It was a great time. Watch for the pictures Monte Draper took to be in the newspaper soon.
The fundraising is going very well. We are still a little short and need to receive $6,000 more to reach our final goal. If you haven't pledged and would like to, you can either drop a check off at my office or the pro-shop. If you have pledged, please mail your donation as soon as possible.
I would like to thank all of the donors for their generous contributions. These improvements to our Club will enhance our experiences for many years to come.
Our 76th Annual Birchmont is only a couple of weeks away. This year's tournament will be held Monday-Saturday, July 24-29. The entry fee for members is reduced to $95.00 for championship divisions and $85.00 for other flights. Detailed information can be found on our website at:
OLDS SCRAMBLE UPDATE
I want to thank Buster Spaulding and Tim Hins from Spaulding Motors for their continued support of our Annual Oldsmobile Scramble.
Our event was held on Saturday, June 24 and we have two teams advancing to the regional event in August. The team of Jeff Nelson, Tracey Depew, John Countryman & Dave Falldorf captured low gross honors while the team of Carl Baer, Tom Faecke, Steve Kroeger and Steve Hill were crowned our low net winners. Congratulations to both teams!
Our June Tuesday Nite winners; Eric "Hoover" Carlson-John Carlson, Jay Wilimek-Dennis Burgess, Jerry Hemstad-Todd Lowth, Wade Price-John Countryman.
Friday Night Couples events have been held each Friday since the beginning of June. We play 9 holes with pairings made by the pro-shop. These events will continue throughout the remainder of the summer with sign-up in the pro-shop.
5th ANNUAL BARRY CURB MEMORIAL JR TOURNAMENT
The date for this year's 5th Annual Barry Curb Memorial Tournament is Monday, August 7. We are limiting the field to the first 120 paid entrants and will be taking members first. Sign up forms will be available in the pro-shop.
BEMIDJI PRO-AM PLAYERS NEEDED
This year's 8th Annual Bemidji Pro-Am sponsored by Pepsi-Nei Bottling will be held on Friday, July 14 with a 9:00 Shotgun. Though most of the professionals playing will be bringing their own amateur teams, a limited number of amateurs will be needed to fill vacant spots. If you are interested, a sign-up is posted with entrants taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. The entry fee for members is $45.00
Our invitational went very well with one small exception and that being Mother Nature! Wind and steady rain made the weather quite terrible so congratulations are in order for the winners and also for those of us that completed 18 holes.
We are hoping for larger turnouts for both Wednesday and Monday leagues. Come out and join us we're having a great time!
Because our Monday league is drawing larger numbers each year we feel the need to include those ladies in our league business.
We will hold a meeting after the Monday league on July 31. We need the input of all involved.
Ladies remember to put your improved scores on the ringer board in the lounge. Also when you sign up for league play be sure to designate if you want a cart and include your handicaps because they quite often change (hopefully lower).

FROM THE CLUBHOUSE
It is hard to believe that June has already passed us by and we are on to July. With the arrival of the new furniture and the completion of the bar we truly have achieved a new and classy look. Comments from members and guests have been positive. It sure brightens up our clubhouse.
June was a very busy month despite our poor weather. July looks to be busy as well with the Member Classic on the 8th, the Pro-Am on the 14th, a wedding on the 15th, the Chamber After Hours Party on the 19th, and of course we are geared up for the Birchmont which will take us through the end of the month. Take a look at the calendar on the landing to note happenings in the Clubhouse.
As always I encourage, expect, and appreciate suggestions. Let me know how we are doing. Thank you for the great summer so far. I appreciate your support and look forward to a great remainder of the season.
