PRESIDENTS REPORT
Dear Members,
Are we ever going to warm up? The cool weather has really been hanging on. The course is in beautiful shape and will make for great playing conditions when the sun decides to shine.
Don't forget about all the club events that will be happening, Club Tournament, Member Classic, etc. We need your participation for these to be a success!
The clubhouse project appears to be a success, along with the food and service. This is a place everyone should be proud of; a great course and updated facility.
Your President - Scott Curb

SUMMER RULES

TURF TALK
The month of May has turned into a very busy month for our staff. Upon completion of the winter cleanup, spring brings the initiation of many projects, such as: aerification, herbicide application, bunker edging, and the other projects that come up from time to time. All this coupled with the daily course maintenance we try to complete with a limited staff until my college crewmembers arrive around June 1st.
As you may have noticed, I transplanted 75 Norway Pine trees our of our tree nursery onto the course. We replanted the nursery with Norway Pines and White Spruce and will redo this practice in 3 to 4 years. For those that question the need for this practice, every year we lose a percentage of trees to storm damage and disease. This ensures that we keep our course re-vegatated to combat these acts of nature. At this time it was felt by the greens committee that we did not need to add trees in any significant play areas, so we concentrated on filling in areas that were void of trees.

LADIES DIVISION
What a great day we had for our Spring Buffet and Golf league opener. It was wonderful to see so many members out golfing. Congratulations to the game winners - Mary Jane Barnes and Rose Fagerstrom. Thank you to Gretchen and her staff for the lovely breakfast buffet and thank you to Mother Nature for the great weather.
League play will start on May 30th. It's not too late to join. If you have not signed up for league play and would like to please contact Donna Macius at 755-9179. We are also looking for more ladies to play the Ringer Board. Everyone has a chance to win. Contact Kathy Gardner at 759-9467 if you are interested. Additional handouts will be available in our newly remodeled locker room for this year's League Schedule, Summer Games, and Ladies' Division Membership Roster.

FROM THE CLUBHOUSE
Greetings from the Clubhouse:
With the rainy days of May behind us we look forward to a busy summer. Even with our rainy cool days, the clubhouse was full of activity. Parties, tournaments, and people just stopping out to see our new clubhouse.
We are now serving from our summer menu. We're sure you will find it fresh and exciting. We have added a daily salad bar and some lighter, healthier choices. Be sure to check them out. Please remember to print your name on your ticket to avoid incorrect charges. With all the new employees they need your help in getting to know your names.
To ensure better service on the course we have decided to have the Halfway House open daily. Monday and Wednesday the Halfway House will be the only service available. Tuesday through Friday the cart will be on the course by 2:00 p.m. each day, with the Halfway House available at 9:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday the cart will be out all day with the halfway house open from 11:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m. We hope that by doing this it will guarantee that we will be able to provide you with consistent service. Remember the weather is always a factor. Some changes may take place due to bad weather.
I would like to welcome Peg Stevens back to the Country Club staff as my assistant manager. Feel free to call us or stop in with any questions, comments or concerns. We look forward to seeing you in the Clubhouse.
Gretchen Fjerstad Clubhouse Manager

JUNIOR NOTES
I want to remind our junior members that they are not allowed to make tee times. They may play with their parents who have made a time or we will work them onto the course as open times permit. Also, they should not be on the premises before noon on Wednesday and after 11:00 am on Thursday (other than on the course on Thursday).
This year we are proud to be hosting a MNPGA Junior Tour Event on Monday, June 25th. We are holding 16 spots for our junior members and there is no charge for our member. This event replaces the Barry Curb Memorial Junior Tournament. Sign-up is in the proshop and additional details are at www.minnesotajuniorgolf.com.

PARKING
We have been informed from Northern Township that any cars parked on Country Club road (road west of old #10) that are parked "too far" into the road will be ticketed. They have also informed us that Country Club road will be completely no parking in the near future. We would appreciate it if you would not use that area for parking and use the parking lot instead.
