Bemidji Town & Country Club Online Newsletter - 04/05/05

I know all of you are getting the itch to get back on the course and this recent warm weather should allow us to open sooner than normal.

Opening Day 2004
Our plans (weather permitting) are to open the driving range next Monday and to open the course the end of next week, probably on Friday, April 15th. The clubhouse will open this coming Monday, April 11th with kitchen hours from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. The entire staff is excited about the upcoming year.

My Assistant, Rick Grand, has to tough it out in Palm Springs until the 15th so right now it's Lucy and me getting the shop set up. New merchandise is arriving each day and hopefully we'll have most of it out by the first part of next week. I will send out another email when we have a firm opening date. We will be taking tee times starting with the opening day.

See you soon!

Hello again BTCC members. Well, I think the time is almost here. Get those golf clubs cleaned up and ready. I just have a couple of things to let you know about this time around. Our financial attitude remains optimistic but cautious. We would like to have solid revenue data this spring before we commit to any larger type projects. We hope this meets with the members approval. We refuse to stand still but we will not plunge foolishly ahead either. We have a well thought out priority list of things we believe need to be accomplished and we will work on them as finances permit. I, for one , am very excited to begin play soon. I am hopeful that my clubs have forgotten me over the long winter.

We will soon initiate a advertising/marketing program to attract new members and players. I would like to reintroduce BTCC to the Bemidji community. We need to remind folks that this is a marvelous course to play and a wonderful club to belong to. When you meet new members and players on the course, please make them feel welcome. As I have said before, this is the jewel of the north. We are the caretakers of this jewel.

Well, get ready to tee it up !! Don't forget to fix those darn divots and ball marks :)

Thank You,
Steve Hagenah

Hi fellow members of Bemidji Town and CC. I would like to introduce myself to those of you who may not know me. My name is Gene Bakke and last Fall I was elected to the Board of Directors. In addition, I was asked to serve as the Chairperson for the Greens Committee. Although I have only been a member here for three years, I was born and raised in Bemidji, graduating from BHS and BSU. It was always a dream of mine to return to the Bemidji Area and become a member of BTCC.

The Greens Committee for 2005 has, I feel, a great mixture of past committee members and new committee members. The cast is as follows: Gene Bakke, Pat Dooley, John Faulkner, Bob Kobilka, Scott Robbins and Scott Tuomala. Also, Tom Johanns, our Course Superintendent, is an active participant. We have a carryover project list from the past committee. Currently, we are looking at placing / replacing yardage markers on the sprinkler heads, improving some tee boxes and hopefully blacktopping some cart paths The extent of these projects will be determined by our available financial resources this year. We are open to suggestions to improve the golf course. Please contact us on any concerns you might have.

I would think most of you agree that switching over to our online newsletter rather than our prior method of mailing out hard copies has been a major improvement. In the past we would usually mail out about 8 newsletters with most of the information 2-6 weeks old. Last year I sent out 30 emails! The benefits are obvious. However, there are still a few people who don't receive email. If anyone you know does not receive email, please let them know that we will mail out these newsletters on a monthly basis.
