The Bemidji Town & Country Club
September 2000

Since my last report in this newsletter a lot has happened in regards to the upgrading and renovation of our clubhouse. On August 20th a general membership informational meeting was held and an update was given as to where we are and where we need to be in regards to clubhouse improvements.
I thank all those who attended, although I was quite disappointed that more of you did not attend. The renovation committee and the board of directors has spent and will spend a lot of time to see this project through to the end.
Here is a brief update for those of you who did not attend: We will be installing a new kitchen and bathrooms on the main floor at the same time renovating the banquet room as well as putting a new roof on our club house. All these things are required by the State Health Department and we must conform with the ADA (American Disabilities Act). We hope to start work on the new roof by mid-September and all completed before the snow flies. We plan to start the renovation shortly after the golf season ends and the clubhouse closes with all work to be done over the winter and in place by opening day next Spring. We have received nothing but positive comments on what needs to be done and we are proud of that. A preliminary plan drawing is on display in both the clubhouse and pro shop.
The final details on the project and financing arrangements should be in place by the annual meeting, which has been set for Monday, October 16th at 7:30pm at the clubhouse. We hope as many stockholders as possible will attend the annual meeting.
The club has had a good and profitable summer and we are very stable financially at this time and a nice month of September would even help more.
I have been able to play golf again, although not very well, but that is o.k. because I enjoy being out on our beautiful course and enjoy the fellowship of all of you.
As I end my year as your President I am happy to report that I have enjoyed working with a super board of directors and the super staff in all areas of our Bemidji Town and Country Club.
Your President,
Rod Pickett

FROM THE PRO-SHOP       The golf season may be winding down, but there's plenty of great golf left. With the course in wonderful condition and with substantially less traffic, tee times are usually not a problem. However, I would strongly suggest that you call for times on the weekends in advance as we have some small outside groups scheduled. With cooperation from the weather we hope to have the course open through much of October.

Congratulations to the winners in August for Tuesday Nite league. They were Mike Tangen-John Wangberg, Terry Jackson-Chase Jackson, Mike Metso-Jim Smythe and John Wangberg-Travis Jackson.
Our 2000 Tournament of Champion is the team of Todd Lowth-Jerry Hemstad. They fired a best ball of score of 62. Tying for second place with scores of 63 were the teams of Todd Lagergren-Ken Pankow, Mike Tangen-John Wangberg, Larry Stember-Tom Schwartz and Bruce Simenson-Joe Aitken.

As we head into what seems to be an early fall, we can always hope for an Indian Summer. As the saying goes "If you don't like the weather in Minnesota wait a minute it will change."
Even though it is September the Clubhouse will still be full of activity, as we have the Vandersluis over the Labor Day weekend, the Courage North on the 6th, a Grooms Dinner on the 8th, the Shealy Wedding on the 9th, the Reierson Wedding on the 15th, the Shelquist Wedding on the 16th, the Yavarrow Wedding on the 23rd, and closing out the month on the 27th we are proud that the Bemidji Area Chamber is having their Annual Meeting at our Club.
Some important things to note. Our Halfway House will close for the season after the Labor Day Weekend. The Beverage Cart will be available each day, weather permitting. We will be ending our Dinner menu on the the 10th to enable us to eliminate product for the remainder of the season. We will be running our lunch menu and will be featuring dinner items each evening.
The Clubhouse hours will be changing as well. We will be opening weekdays at 9:00 a.m. and weekends at 8:00a.m. The kitchen will be closing nightly at 9:00 p.m.
Please call ahead for reservations especially when weather is questionable, as I do make staffing decisions based on tee times at this point in the year.
As always I look forward to seeing you in the Clubhouse.
