The Bemidji Town & Country Club
September 2001

Labor Day weekend is nearly upon us. As we all know, the golf season beomes very short after that.
This will be my last 'report', so to speak, as President and as a board member. We certainly have had a full plate the past 3 years and everybody should be proud of what was done. These board members take their job very seriously and put in a lot of time and effort. Special thanks to Paul, Tom and Gretchen who together keep things running as smoothly as possible! It's not always easy to keep 400 members all happy at the same time.
That brings me to the members. Thank you for all the support you have shown us on all of our projects. We never claimed to have done everything right, but we did try to do our best. You are the reason Bemidji Town & Country Club is a great place to play golf!
   Scott Curb-President

The golf season may be winding down, but there's plenty of great golf left. With the course in wonderful condition and with substantially less traffic, tee times are usually not a problem. However, I would strongly suggest that you call for times on the weekends in advance as we have some small outside groups scheduled. With cooperation from the weather we hope to have the course open through much of October.

We mentioned in our August newsletter about our "Fall Membership" promotion to attract additional play. From September 4th through the rest of the season an unlimited play membership can be purchased for $150.00 for a single or $200.00 for a family (no food assessment necessary). PLUS, this full amount can be applied to their 2002 dues if they become a member next year.

Any adult member that brings a guest after September 3rd will only be charged $15.00 for 18 holes. This is of our regular price! This offer is only good on weekdays and the $10.00 off member coupons cannot be used along with this offer. A member must be present in the group.
We think that both of these offers are a great way for you to introduce our course to your friends and guests.

On Saturday, September 29th we are having a brand new event; a 1-man scramble (each man hits two shots from every spot). Entry fee is $50.00 for members ($70.00 for non-members). This is a gross event with no handicaps used. We will also have a giant skins game and closest to pin contest. Tee times will run from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Sign up is in the pro-shop. We are also planning on a Friday Night Calcutta.

Congratulations to the winners in August for Tuesday Nite league. They were Rod Pickett-Dave Hancock, Tom Moran-Rob Burgess and John Schwegman-Jim Sutton.
Our 2001 Tournament of Champions was held on August 29th and two teams tied for first place. The teams of Steve Hagenah-Glen Seibel and Paul Daman-Paul Friesen both shot best ball scores of 60. Tying for 3rd with a score of 62 were the teams of Pat Knoer-Rick Curb, Rod Pickett-Dave Hancock and John Schwegman-Jim Sutton.

It seems such a short time ago I was writing the first newsletter of the golfing season, now this will be my last of my "co-chair" career. It's been a great learning experience and fun dealing with lots of really great people.
A special thank-you to everyone that has participated in either our mon.or wed. leagues, I think you will agree that our pay-outs have been good this year and it's always fun to get those freebees in the pro-shop.
Next month in our newsletter will be a listing of all our league winners as well as our member/guest tournement results. We find Sept. a wonderful month for golf, not so crowded and the weather can still be great so hope to see a lot of you still playing.
Remember: Never belittle a ball in the middle!!
